About Max Bird
Starting Out
Max Bird started karting at eight years of age racing at kart tracks in Camberley and Forest Edge. Here he collected a good selection of trophies. He first raced at a National Level in 2010, as part of a father and son team.
Max continued racing at a club level in 2011 becoming vice-champion at Forest Edge and taking 4th in the club championships at Shenington and Whilton. He joined Fusion Motorsport for 2012 to compete in S1 and Formula Kart Stars. In this final year as a cadet, Max took a number of podiums and fastest laps at National level before moving onto Mini Max in 2013.
Karting continues
Max continued to compete predominantly at National level. He was 10th in the S1 Mini Max championship, after achieving a number of top-six finishes. For 2014 Max moved to Rotax Junior Max. He competed in the National S1 championship, finishing 12th overall, achieving top-six finishes and fastest laps during the year, including at the Britsh Kart GP at PFI.
Switching to cars
Max won the prestigious TVKC karting championship for Junior Rotax in 2015. After this, he first entered car racing in 2016 competing in the highly competitive Ginetta Junior championship. Moving on in 2017 to the Ginetta GT5 championship, he finished 4th overall after one race win, four second places, two third places a pole position and two fastest laps.
2017 was an outstanding learning year for Max Bird. He gained a first in the opening round of the season. This achievement was followed by six further podiums across the season and two fastest laps and a pole in the final round.
2018
Max’s stellar performance continues. He became one of the youngest drivers ever to compete in the Dubai 24h series, coming away with a class win. He also triumphed at R3, Thruxton with an incredible 1st place victory.
